Getting a Puppy.....

August bought the arrival of Bertie...

People told me a puppy was hard work, "much like a baby" they said....
"Harder than a baby" they said....

I thought they were exaggerating... Let me tell you they were not!

I am tired, my house isn't quite the same as it once was... My floors have probably never had quite as much anti bacterial cleaner on it.

Bertie is now 13 weeks old, and he is definitely here to stay, he has quickly become part of the family, he sleeps well at night apart from the early starts, eats well, rare accidents in the house... Win!

Our puppy must haves...

Crate with comfy bedding, I know not everyone likes crates but this for us was something we wanted to train in, to give Bertie his space away from the girls and to allow me to know he is safe and away from any temptations to chew our furniture when we are away... It's working.

Extendable lead..... We wanted to be able to give him some freedom to explore before he has learnt to come back to us properly, this is a great way to know he can't escape.

Puppy friendly treats...
Bettie is very eager to please, especially when treats are involved.
Current favourites are in this box selected especially for Bertie from
Check them out...

And plenty of them, this aids with the prevention of boredom he loves his toys and often gives us that welcome break from the manic running around.

If you are thinking of getting a puppy I would recommend you have lots of free time especially in those first few weeks, if you think I can be of any help in your new puppy journey please ask...

Dear people on the beach in Nice...

I have been absent in my blog lately due to my own reasons, but I am saddened daily by what I read and hear in the news almost daily and most things I choose to not comment, hoping I would never need to comment.

I can only imagine the fear, anger, sadness and embarassment of being made to strip on a beach surrounded by people...

I am so sad that us as women are being labelled by what we choose to wear..

A woman on the beach fully covered does not make her a terrorist.. She is simply dressing for the religion she has chosen for herself, maybe we should start telling every woman who is covered up due to religious reasons that they too need to undress... Whilst you are at it maybe get some of the more undressed ones to cover up abit more??

I would like to know where all the support was on the beach?

Surely not everyone suspected this lady of being a terrorist?

The idea that the burkini is linked to terrorism is ludicrous... Such a shame that this is where France is at.
Why are we still forcing women to wear or not wear certain clothing?

Am I just sitting by and seeing all this go on? Are you?  Or can I be more proactive in my thoughts...  Can you?

How did you stay so silent?

To the woman on the beach... I'm sorry.

1st Sunday Somethings of the Oh so pretty August...

Wow what a week it's been, I can't believe how dull the start of this week was... Seriously felt like we should be getting ready for Christmas... And it made me realise I need to invest in some new slippers sharpish....

To start off the things I'm loving....

1) Yesterday we touched down in Cornwall, perfection... A whole week with him,my girls,my mum, dad, brother and my brothers girlfriend...
We love it here and I am planning on completely switching off from "normal life"

2) Loving my new tea storage....
I need to fill the slots up now... The matcha green tea is a firm favourite but I am also loving womankind

3) The Only Way Is Essex
I don't even care how lame this makes me... I love the drama.. Easy to watch and easy to get sucked in...

4) Daily smoothies
The past 2 weeks Mum and I have been making a smoothie for our lunch, they are really filling and surprisingly delicious.. No naughty lunches for us...

Hope you all have a lovely week, I'm really enjoying taking 5 minutes to reflect and think about a few things that I have really enjoyed in the past week.

August goals and changes

This is definitely the month I sort myself out... (Again)

Power of positive thinking...

purchased 2 books this week and hoping they will help me on my journey.

Ella from the Lucky truth is doing a challenge to change your life. This inspired me so I have also joined in on the 30 day challenge which I will be doing slightly differently, they say it takes 30 days to form a new habit or change an old one....

This month will be my starting block, starting small and working my way to a bigger and better life for us all.

For a start I am going to be ditching one bad habit of mine....

Pepsi max... I have to have this everyday it's my treat rather than stuffing chocolate chip cookies I have Pepsi max, it's not at all good for you.. It shouldn't be a reward... It's gone! (And so are the cookies)

And finally for this month...
Write a note/text message to someone everyday telling them that I care and mentioning something good about them...

I feel that we so often focus on the negative that the positives just pass us by... We need to stop doing that,it won't take me long and we really need to tell those closest more often just how much we love them.

Ramble almost over, as the months go on I will increase my challenges but with this month being the first I thought a couple of easy but still positive changes will be a good start.

Have you ever thought of doing a 30 day challenge?

Sunday somethings...

We have been such busy bees lately... I haven't had time to just sit and think let alone update the blog and let you know what we have been up to or what we have been loving....

Things have calmed down abit now so I decided to get my blogging mojo back and sort my life out... (Again)

Do you ever feel like you've really got everything together? Super organised? Super happy? Then something gets thrown in and you go right off track? Me too... But I'm back on it and I'm going to start my "Sunday Somethings" will let you know a few things that have happened this past week...

We finally got round to decorating our house... Working in the day meant the evenings were filled with paint and rollers.. But I'm happy now it's done and I decided to brighten our living room by bringing in some colour alongside my new coffee table that my very talented Dad made me.. I love it.

I went on Miss E's final school trip of foundation we were so lucky with the weather..  Perfect day ended with Strawberry picking at a local farm with my mum and the girls.

Friday ended the working week perfectly coffee and a shop with a lovely friend who I don't get to see enough and a spa evening with some lovely mummy friends.

The weekend was perfect 2 parties, family time and fish & chips at the park.
Feeling refreshed and ready to smash this week... Maybe slightly emotional in the week as Miss E completes her 1st year at school and Miss K is going in to year 4!!!

I hope you have had a lovely week and I hope you can really find time to enjoy the coming one...

Lots of love xxxx

We always have the drinks on standby....

Being an active household, we are constantly needing to remember to take drinks wherever we go, be it work, gymnastics, school, park trips, swimming or just out exploring...

think it really helps the girls to see us carrying around our bottles of water, they are used to drinks being readily available, water is always there right next to their plate at dinner or fresh juice with breakfast, gone are the days of remembering to take nappies etc on an outing but I still always remember to take bottles of drink.

When BritMums invited bloggers to take part in their #EnjoyMoreWater challenge as part of the Robinsons campaign, I jumped at the chance with the "Summer" hopefully just around the corner I always look for new ways to keep our children well hydrated.

We received 6 samples of the Robinsons Squash'd drinks, these are perfect, compact in size making it easy to take with you wherever you go.. The girls have loved these, added excitement being able to squeeze some of this into their water... My current favourite is the citrus flavour.

I did some research as to how much water my children should be drinking daily....

The recommended daily amount of fluids is: 5 glasses (1 litre) for 5 to 8 year olds. 7 glasses (1.5 litres) for 9 to12 year olds. 8 to 10 glasses (2 litres) for 13+ years.

I know how important it is to keep up your fluid intake, as soon as those levels drop for me the headaches start, I feel sluggish... I don't want this for my children.

My top tips for helping your kids drink more would be....

1) Always keep water within easy access, be it a jug in the fridge or on the table

2) Give a drink with every meal

3) Give a bottle of drink to take to any activity

4) Use a reward chart... Stickers for every glass they have..

We are looking forward to making some ice lollies with our Robinsons Squash'd....

My perfectly timed EarlyBird snack boxes

You know when something really simple makes you happy? Well something has done this for me and it won't be any surprise to know this really simple thing is food related.....

Where do I start? These boxes have come at a perfect time for me, busy schedules, not always having time to make myself a proper lunch and being in places where you are surrounded by vending machines containing only chocolate and crisps (this does not help my calorie intake for the day.)

These boxes come in a handy letterbox size and are just £4.95!!!

Although I am yet to try all of the snacks & tea (yes you get a teabag aswell... Bonus) I haven't found one I don't like or one that doesn't appeal to me, I always make sure I have one in my bag ready for times in need, all of the nutritional information is in a lovely personalised booklet (loved that touch)
Also worth noting that even the ones I would call less healthy are still pretty low in calories!

I want to thank the team at EarlyBird for giving me the chance to review their boxes and I will definitely be subscribing!

What snackboxes do you subscribe to?

Ahh that's "Lush"

I was lucky enough to be asked along with a few other local bloggers to our Lush store where they were holding their very first blog event,I met Amy and Nicola and as we walked into the store we were instantly greeted by the lovely Lisa, Grace and Carolynn, we waited for the other girls to Arrive before being shown and given lots of information of the products they have in the store, there was no rushing in any of this, we could ask questions, smell and test any of the products.

I learnt so much from this blogging event, I knew of a few products they had instore but aside from those there are barrel loads of products I knew nothing about from perfume, makeup, haircare, sun care and of course all the different bath bombs and bubble bars.

One thing I need to mention is the teeth section, I had never looked at this before a perfect solid form of toothpaste containing essential oils and spices for fresh breath and that sparkling shine, I am yet to try them but I will report back when I do.
I did purchase Tooth Fairy, which is a strawberry toothpowder it's so glittery I just knew a friend of mine would love it, unfortunately the glitter disappears but still leaves the teeth clean and shining.

Lush is somewhere I have never thought about going for make up, but after looking at the range they have I will definitely be looking to see what I can buy.
Emotional brilliance make up is different, the whole range is vegan, cruelty free and never tested on animals, it brings colour that is kind to the planet.

Whilst we were there we got to see one of their Handmade facemasks being made, I have a little pot of this to try and I can't wait.
Most of the lush masks contain fresh ingredients so will need to be kept in the fridge, these fresh masks will revive your drying skin and leave you feeling energised.

After all this we were given one last treat of a VERY relaxing hand and arm massage, I can't tell you how enjoyable this was in just those few minutes I could feel all my stresses floating away and it was the perfect end to this event, they used the Peace massage bar, warming this through before applying to our skin, this really did bring peace and left my arm feeling moisturised.

Thank you to all the staff at Lush Peterborough you were fab and everyone had the best time.

Don't forget to check the website to see what goodies you can get.....

Bee pollinator event at Wyevale.....

In half term we were invited to Wyevale Garden Centre in Huntingdon, to attend one of their many events they had on for Busy Bee week!

We went to the Perfect Pollinator event on a very rainy Tuesday, so we were glad to have something planned inside!

I have never been to this garden centre and it's about a 20 minute drive from us, but very easy to find.

Upon arrival we easily found our way to where the event was situated and we were greeted by a very nice man who advised us when we needed to start, as soon as the time came for us to start the girls were very eager to get stuck in.

2 lovely ladies ran the event, they were friendly, knowledgeable and interacted well with all the children.

In this 20 minute event, the children decorated a pot and coloured in a bee cut out, they were then able to plant a beautiful Cosmos Sonata the friendliest of bee plants in the hope it will attract our buzzy bee friends!

We followed this with a lovely picnic lunch in the garden centres restaurant, freshly made sandwiches and snacks were the perfect end to this event.

Overall we were extremely pleased with our visit to Wyevale, lovely surroundings with friendly staff, we will be keeping our eye out for any future events they have, and encourage any of you with children to attend, you won't be disappointed.

My summer of matcha

With summer approaching I am always on the look out for new treats to bring to BBQs and picnics, and when I came across a competition for bloggers from Eat Clean Tea  featuring their Matcha Tea I couldn't wait to get involved.... The task was to create our very own healthy juice/cocktail/smoothie...

I am a big juicing fan, and love how refreshing they are and the fact that this one has so many added health benefits, it's clearly a winner!

Here is what we used...

1 whole banana
Handful of grapes
Curly kale (stalks removed)
Fresh pineapple juice
Lime juice
2 scoops of the Eat Clean Tea (original matcha)

All thrown in blender for desired consistency......

The ginger/kale and matcha have so many proven health benefits....

Check out the following links to see why you should be adding these to your own juices/smoothies...

Why not add some matcha tea to your own recipe?

What's your favourite?

My birthday visit to Chai..... waffle time....

Myself and a friend thought it was about time we went to a local cafe and treated ourselves to a mid morning  cuppa and a pudding or 2.... the major calorie overload was definitely worth it.

We were lucky enough to be able to have a chat with the owner Nabil, he was welcoming and didn't hesitate to answer any questions we had, he has a great belief on helping the local area and always on the look out for ways to give back to the local community, profits made in the cafe are placed back into their Chai Life Foundation, Community groups can get in touch and apply for help with any projects.

They are also looking to bring in the community token, anyone can purchase a token for just £1 which then you can pass on to someone in need and send them into Chai and they can enjoy a treat for themselves.

Chai has a very welcoming feel to it from the moment you walk in, we saw a variety of different people come in and everyone raved about the desserts, students came in from the college, set up laptops and got to work with a coffee, they had a lovely bookshelf full of books for you to enjoy.
Walls were lined with works of art from local artists, motivational quotes filled another wall.

Now onto the the food...

I had a white chocolate cookie dough this was amazing... I just remembered to get a picture before I demolished it, we chose a chai tea brand name the tea project, it was the perfect accompaniment to my very sweet pudding, added bonus of everything being organic and Fairtrade where possible.

you need to visit this place, there is something for everyone and I am already planning my next visit.

My birthday wish list

My 29th birthday is fast approaching, I am struggling to see how I am 29!!! I was 21 a year ago.....

List making is one of my favourite things to do so a Wish list for my birthday was no heavy task....

I have wanted this jacket for a while now I remember trying on a similar one in Brighton last year.. Finally this will be the year.

I love these trainers having always been a converse girl this is a big change for me but I love the look and feel of these trainers...

I have wanted one of these for a long time so It's definitely on my wishlist, I can drink water easily but I'm tend to just down loads all at one time rather than little and often so I know this will helpbme to spread out my fluid intake.

Big fan of looking after my skin and to protect from signs of ageing wherever I can.. What better way than a simple cream to put alongside my usual skin care products than a moisturising cream that protects for 8 hours.

"Winging it" tshirt

I am desperate for a tshirt from selfish mother, "All profits* from sales of WINGING IT designs go to KIDS CHARITY UK" Is there a better reason for tshirt like that?

Plus I haven't seen one on the school run so many I could start a trend and a few others will go ahead and buy to help this amazing charity.

I could go on forever about items that are on my wish list... Will just insert a few pictures of those...

Thank you for reading now onto the next list....
