Trying to shatter my christmas mood?

Wow yet another amazing christmas, I have the best family and love how we can not see each other much all year and for 1 day its like we have never been apart... its always so magical and I love this time of year... now the part where we find room for the mounds of toys and try to de clutter wondering when its acceptable to take the decorations down....
Right now my usual feelings at this time of year are tainted with a horrible feeling our landlords will not be renewing our contract on the 1st January. . . Through no fault of our own, due to personal issues of our landlords... I will be so sad to leave our beautiful house that we have made home.. we love the street, the people... everything.
We have no where to go no money to move...  I could be thinking totally the wrong thing but just incase anyone know anything about squatters rights???

The ordinary moments

This week has been a lot about cuddles, until you sit and think about it you don't realise just how much of your day is taken up with cuddles, when they wake up and join you in bed, when they go in to school or Playgroup, when they fall or just when you fancy.
Cuddles happen all the time with my girls it's an ordinary moment but definitely one of the best.

Wow week today!!

I cant believe its a week until christmas day!! I love the build up, but I don't know about anyone else but I can never feel totally relaxed until the actual day once everyone has opened presents and everyone is happy and having fun.. until then I never completely know if I have got everything.
I spend so much time writing list after list.. checking and double checking. I still have a few presents to wrap and maybe a few more to buy for the girls. Im hoping to be completed including wrapping by friday night... large glass of baileys and christmas music will get me through.
This weekend will be spent doing our usual christmas trips card delivering, christmas cards, visits to santa and checking out the local lights, getting the girls super excited for the big day at 3 and 6 they will really feel the magic..
Does anyone else do the same things every year in the build up?

So I was nominated for this award by the lovely Ellie...

2- I know every word to bat out of hell, meat loaf, have done since I was about 10.. Who doesn't?
3- I am slightly OCD in that I like switches to be off, light switches to be the same, the tap in the kitchen to be straight...
4- I have a giant Flemish rabbit who is bigger than most cats and small dogs..
5- I love making plans, I just love to be organised.
6- I love fresh bed sheets but HATE the job of changing the bed..
7- I am obsessed with Reese's peanut butter cups

Now for my nominations

Time...not enough

Just sitting here thinking how fast the day has gone, as does everyday...
The biggest fell and hurt herself earlier and all she wanted was for me to sit and cuddle her, of course I instantly went to her and sat and cuddled my baby... But then running through my head was the hundred other things I knew I had to get done this evening.. I still sat and cuddled.. I could see my coursework waiting, the clothes that needed sorting, the washing up.. It all went Into a blur, the littlest came to join our cuddle and I just sat there thinking what does it even matter? The most amazing people in my life are sitting right here, they need me almost as much as I need them... I just need more hours in the day.
Does anyone else feel this way?

Naughty child...?!?!

My biggest has never been "easy" school I always knew would be a challenge.
She is very clever, therefor leading her to get bored easily.

Right now I'm definitely down for a worst parent award...

Her behaviour this week has been unreal at school, one more wrong doing and will be a trip to the head for me I think..

I'm been sitting here trying to talk to her.. The standard "punishments" do not work for her. This week she has been trying to get others in to trouble..
Is she lacking in attention? Am I doing everything wrong? Where is this rule book?

She's 5 years old definitely acting 15! Kevin like strops!

It's very hard to not cuddle her tight and say I will make it all go away. How do you discipline?

From a very sad and fed up mummy today

Been a while...back to school..

I haven't blogged for a while but woke up this morning feeling the need so here goes.

I have loved this summer holidays, love having both my girls together, no rushing around in the morning has just been nice to do whatever we like, some days girls have decided other days I have had things arranged..

Last week now... On the slump back, I got most of uniform out of the way first week, but now I have to find time to label it all when I desperately don't want to think about the impending week, this is quite possibly my worst job of them all, what's yours??

K is more than ready, I can keep her physically busy, but she definitely needs the mental stimulation of school.

E is due to start Playgroup next week aswell, this scares me she is my baby and very much acts like it (my fault) she was very excited about going too excited.. We were sitting talking about it and it clicked that I actually was not going to be staying with her... She is refusing to go.

How would you deal with this? Leave her on first day or stay? I fear then she will get used to me being there and not settle for a while.

My littlest lady today and her chicken pox

Today started off with a 5am wake up.. Knew right then it was going to be a good day, my chocolate slimfast shake was chilling in the fridge ready for breakfast (yum) the littlest moo thought she would refuse breakfast and head for the shake squirting it all over the cream living room carpet and walls... As I was cleaning it up the big one laughing uncontrollably, Elsie was sitting watching saying don't worry it was only a mistake... How could I be mad at this face even though she has been such a monster lately...

Throughout the day it became apparent that the reasoning behind her mood change was chicken pox.. She is very happy to have them as all her friends have had them, she has spent the evening showing the family her biggest spots...

My parenting skills

So after an eventful morning with friends at a local tea room with outdoor play for a littles, why do we feel under such pressure from other parents?? The owners of the tea room couldn't be more welcoming and with it being about the children quite happy for them to do as they please... There was water play here our girls definitely weren't afraid of getting wet, which then in turn led them to strip off to vest and knickers.. It's warm here they were protected from the sun as well as they could be.. So why did we feel the need to ensure our children got dressed when they were doing no harm and playing happily... Everyone has different ways of parenting not one is right or wrong.. Should we be pressured or judged aslong as the children are safe and happy?

Trying to tame a 5 year old

So just lately Katie 5, has totally gone backwards I thought because of her unruly behaviour at home school would be managing to escape her mood, unfortunately her teacher spoke to me last week and informed me this wasn't the case...
So now we are trying new things instead of Sundays being a chilled day we went on a family picnic in the rain..

She often tries to compete with her younger sister who is currently going through the "terrible twos" trying to explain to her that she should be setting the example to her is going nowhere apparently it's much more fun to throw a strop fake or not...

So we have come to the conclusion any attention is better than nothing for Katie... So going to praise as much as possible, which is definitely easier said than done..
You try to swing everything a positive way but when you have had a full on day by the time 5pm comes its a struggle to smile...

New day tomorrow, calm mummy!

The past week!!

MONDAY-  Our biggest princess was being given and award in school, an honours award she had been nominated by her teacher, this was a total surprise for Katie and to see us in assembly made hers and our day.
We then went out with some friends, then me and Elsie spent the afternoon cuddling as Katie was going to her friends after school so no school run!

TUESDAY - We went to our usual tots group in the morning, then spent the afternoon with some friends at our house.

WEDNESDAY- We went with Lesley Anne and Chloe to activity world, hoping to stay there all day,but the girls got tired very quickly,we managed lunch then home to chill, then on to swimming lessons such hard work I am always exhausted when I get home.

THURSDAY - Soft play at sims, it's only on for a couple of hours, and Elsie, lockie and Chloe played so nicely we stayed the whole time, after school run it was time for ballet.

FRIDAY - food shopping day, then we went to a friends for lunch.

SATURDAY - Cuddles in bed kind of morning then tidied the garden, bike ride to mum and dads, home to tidy more, the girls went off to a skate park with daddy, I got ready for my run, chilled evening ..

Finally it's half term, we are all shattered and in need of a break!!! We have lots planned, but hopefully manage to get some chill time in

Meal planning Monday

Been a while since I have done this but looking forward to getting back into it.. All I feel like doing now is getting the slow cooker back put and making some wintery meals, but trying to keep it spring like....

MONDAY- chicken burgers and salad
TUESDAY- spag Bol
WEDNESDAY- pasta and sauce, garlic bread
THURSDAY - out for dinner
FRIDAY - chilli
 SATURDAY- homemade fish and chips

So we got offered the chance to do our first review, we were very excited awaiting the arrival of the crisps!

My girls are big crisp lovers, so when these arrived they loved the fact they were not crisp shape, they couldn't wait to get them open, the monkey that came holding the crisps was a hit also...

The crisps were shared out in bowls between my 2 girls and obviously a bowl for monkey, they had a little game of naughts and crosses, then put the hoops on fingers before the taste test...

I Often worry about healthy snacks to give my girls, but these are so appealing and with 56% wholegrain these are perfect.

Biggest lady turns 5!!!

2nd April 2013, Katie is 5!!!!!

I think this is the first birthday she was truly excited, she knew exactly what  presents she wanted and what she wanted to do on the day...

Her last request on the eve of her birthday was to have balloons...

After the presents had been open we had nanny and Aunty Laura round for more presents and McDonald's breakfast....
Then on to pick up Katie's best friend Katie, we were off to a garden centre with a big play area, they fed the lambs did lots of playing then off on a tractor ride....

We then went to meet some more friends, had another play at brewsters, then the kiddies all had dinner.. Home for a bath, seeing grandma and grandad then both girls went to bed....

Such a lovely day, so proud of my big girl...
